    Inhabited for over 8,000 years, the Isle of Man is a mix of Celtic and Norse influences, which you’ll notice as soon as you step off the ship. Its 14th century castle at Peel, the Rushen Abbey, and its own breed of cats and sheep make this island a unique place to visit. Douglas, the capital and largest city, boasts one of the most exciting road and motorcycle race tracks in the world (you can experience it on an optional excursion on a three-seater trike).

    July 6, 2016 – Portrush, Northern Ireland
    Today, you’ll experience the beauty of this Northern Ireland resort town, with its sandy beaches, magnificent tide pools, and the Royal Portrush Golf Club, the only golf club outside of mainland Great Britain. Take an optional excursion to the capital city, Belfast or check out Giant’s Causeway, unique rock formations that have stood for millions of years. You’ll also have the option to see Bushmill’s Distillery, which has continuously produced whiskey for almost 400 years.

    July 7, 2016 – Tobermory, United Kingdom
    You’ll see bright, colorful buildings as you pull into this cheery port town. The area around the town is filled with history, and you can take optional excursions to see Glengorm Castle, Iona Abbey (regarded as the birthplace of Christianity in Scotland), or Mull’s Duart Castle, where Tobermory’s Spanish Galleon was imprisoned. If you prefer to stay in town, walk along the coast to see the many varieties of wildflowers, ferns, mosses, lichens, fungi, and trees living in the Celtic rainforest.

    Kirkwall is your gateway to ancient cities and picturesque harbors. Take an optional excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Neolithic Heartland of Orkney and see the 5,000 year old village of Skara Brae, the “Scottish Pompeii.” Stroll the streets of the seafaring town of Stromness, visit the hand-painted Italian Chapel on South Isles, or try a wee dram of whiskey at the world’s most northerly distillery. You also have the opportunity to hear all about the Laird at Skaill House.

    Invergordon is your entry point to the famous Scottish Highlands (and yes, it will look exactly like you picture it). Visit Loch Ness for a chance to glimpse at Nessie or walk around one of the many historic castles, such as Cawdor Castle (reputedly home to Macbeth) or Dunrobin, the ancestral home of Clan Sutherland. You’ll also have another chance to taste one of Scotland’s most well-known whiskeys at Glenmorangie Distillery.
